This page shows a number of dogs which are
currently available for adoption.
If you are interested in adopting a dog,
please be aware of the following:
The adoption process consists of the
application, the phone interview, and a home
visit. We have very limited resources for home
visits that are out of state or too far upstate.
We do make an effort to do them but often the
wait is quite long and there are times when we
are unable to do them. Please apply to your
local rescue as they might be able to assist
you better.
As a matter of policy to protect the privacy of
people involved in all phases of adoption,
LIGRR volunteers do not give out personal phone
numbers or email addresses. If you are
contacted by someone from a personal email or
phone, please call LIGRR at 516-578-3803 or
email us at
ligrr@yahoo.com to verify they are actually
working on our behalf.

Dog From Turkey
Felicia
Age: 7 Years
Gender: Female
Felicia
Felicia is about seven years old she was surrendered by a family to a small private shelter in Turkey. The family was moving and couldn't take her. The family had found the dog 2-3 years ago in their village. She was on the street looking for food around the garbage bins. They kept the dog in their garden and surrendered her 3 months ago. She is very calm and friendly. She will be arriving shortly from Turkey.
Dog From Turkey
Felix
Age: 6 Years
Gender: Male
Felix
Felix is approximately 6 years old. He was found in the forest, in Turkey, a few months ago sitting in mud after severe rain and flooding. Looking at his chip # we can presume that he was released by a municipal shelter at least 3-4 years ago after being neutered. Presumably some people took care of him for a while as he couldn't have survived in the forest without care. He was treated for ehrlicia and is now fine. He had open wounds that looked to be from dog bites. After all he went through he is very loving and social. Goldens are really amazing! He will be arriving her in the next few weeks.
Even if the dog of your dreams is not currently on our
site, we get in new dogs every day. Before you know it
we will have the dog you have been looking for.
